  • Overview

    Responsible for maintaining, restoring, and seeing to the upkeep of the organization’s buildings, grounds, mechanical and electrical and HVAC systems, to include preventative maintenance. Engages and supervises external contractors as required.

    Responsibilities

    • Responsible for the maintenance and repairs to building, grounds, and equipment (other than autos and office) Civil Rights Memorial and Center;
    • Reviews maintenance agreements and related invoices for compliance;
    • Maintains janitorial/maintenance supply inventory and tools;
    • Escorts external maintenance vendors as required;
    • Assists employees with furniture changes and table set-up as required;
    • Maintains key inventory for all buildings/furniture;
    • Prepares budget and monitors variance for facilities and janitorial expenses;
    • Gathers bids and makes recommendations on building construction;
    • Assists with establishing and relocating regional office facilities.

    Qualifications

    Education and Related Work Experience:
    • 5 years of general maintenance and repair experience;
    • 3 years working in an office support/service role.

     

    Knowledge, skills and abilities:
    • Knowledge of tools and how to use them;
    • Ability to successfully multi-task with attention to detail;
    • Strong customer service skills;
    • Self-motivated;
    • Ability to take ownership in projects and tasks and see them through to successful conclusion;
    • Ability to work collaboratively and build positive/effective business partnerships;
    • Ability to interact with office staff at all levels in a fast-paced, changing environment;
    • Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.

     

    Other Special Considerations:
    This job is performed under general office conditions, and is not subject to any strenuous physical demands or dangerous conditions.
